Fianna Fail poised to oppose abortion legislation
FIANNA Fail appears poised to oppose the abortion legislation.
But the party may not announce its position until the final legislation is published.
A substantial majority of party TDs and Senators at a meeting this afternoon seem to be against the draft legislation, the Protection of Life in Maternity Bill, 2013.
However, the meeting of the parliamentary party in Leinster House, which began at 1pm, is still continuing.
Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin was softening on the legislation and members of the party hierarchy were trying to steer a path towards voting for it - albeit reluctantly.
