FIANNA Fail is expected to outline its position on abortion later today after a special parliamentary party meeting, although TDs and senators are closely split on the issue, writes Fiach Kelly.
Those arguing against backing the Government's legislation are said to have the upper hand, but the leadership is understood to be in favour of supporting the Coalition.
A party spokesman said "the aim" of the meeting is to reach a position. Other sources said a decision may be pushed back until after the next Oireachtas Health Committee hearings or until later drafts of the bill are published.
In an almost mirror image of Fine Gael, the use of suicide as grounds for abortion is the main sticking point for many.
