FF appoints new PR guru
FIANNA Fail has appointed a new communications guru, tasked with selling the party's message to the public.
Pat McParland, a former party member, is to take on the beefed-up role of deputy general secretary with responsibility for communications.
Mr McParland, who is in his thirties, will take up the position in September after he steps down from his current post as director of corporate affairs with Northern Ireland Water.
The Newry, Co Down native, who was also a former member of the SDLP, takes over from Gene McKenna, who stepped down in February.
Mr McKenna, a former political editor with the Irish Independent, worked with Fianna Fail since October 2007.
