A mother has spoken of her worry and concern for an Irishman living in Malaysia after being unable to contact him for three weeks.

Stephen Warde (31), from Kinvara, Co Galway, was last seen near the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur on January 1.

He is described as having dark brown hair, brown eyes, and is five feet and 11 inches in height and heavy set.

Not having any contact from Mr Warde is "very out of character" for him as he is a "placid and quiet" man, said his family.

It is understood that Mr Warde moved to Kuala Lumpur in November of last year.

They are appealing to the public to share his photo on social media, which can be found on the Facebook page 'Missing Persons in Malaysia'.

His worried mother Mary Morrissey, who is in Malaysia searching for him, said: "We are extremely worried and concerned for his safety and well-being as this is out of character for Stephen."

Mr Warde's family are also liaising with the Department of Foreign Affairs.
