Feared criminal Kelly getting married in Morocco
A FEARED criminal who left the country for sunnier climes is due to get married in Morocco within days.
The Irish Independent has learnt that Anthony Kelly (55) from Kilrush, Co Clare, is due to marry in northern Africa.
This week's wedding was discussed during a court sitting in Clare last week but was not part of any criminal case.
In 2007, he was found not guilty of the murder of nightclub bouncer, Brian Fitzgerald. The following year, Kelly was set to make €1.4m from the State as part of the sale of a derelict site in Kilrush. However, the sale to the local authority fell through and Kelly left the country for Morocco in recent years.
Over a 24-year-period, Kelly has earned six criminal convictions, including two for larceny. In August 2003, he survived an assassination attempt when a notorious Limerick criminal, John Creamer, shot him four times at his home.
Kelly kept a low profile after his acquittal for the Fitzgerald murder in 2007, but was photographed in 2008 at the funeral of James Cronin (20), who was shot dead in Limerick city.
Kelly is a former partner of Marie Cronin who was the mother of James Cronin.
