Father of two dies after falling into slurry pit on family farm
The dangers of farm work were highlighted again after the tragic death of a popular father of two on a farm in Co Westmeath.
Seventy-year-old Larry McLoughlin was discovered in a slurry pit at his family farm at around 6pm on Tuesday. It's thought he may have fallen into the pit.
Mr McLoughlin was described as very well liked and respected in his community at Loughegar near Mullingar.
Local parish priest Fr Declan Smith said the mood in the community was one of shock.
Mr McLoughlin is survived by his wife May, daughter Amanda and son Thomas.
He will be buried following 12 o'clock funeral Mass at the Church of the Assumption in Taghmon tomorrow.
