An on-trend selfie wall, its first-ever Zorbing Derby and a new Festival Village serving up craft beer - the Galway Races has been given a fresh make-over.

There's just two days left before one of the biggest events in the Irish racing calendar gallops into action as racing fans get ready to saddle up and make the annual pilgrimage west.

This year has seen organisers overhauling the event with the addition of several new attractions in a bid to keep the event contemporary.

Peter Allen, chairperson of Galway race committee, said that he expected even higher attendance figures than last year as the 'feel-good factor' continued apace.

All eyes will be on the Galway Plate on Wednesday and the Guinness Galway Hurdle on Thursday.

Ladies' Day will see a €10,000 prize up for grabs for the stylish winner with a €2,000 prize for the Best Hat.
