Family relief as body of missing patient found
THE family of a missing woman expressed relief yesterday that they can finally lay her to rest almost four years after her disappearance.
Speaking last night the family of Bernie Gavan paid tribute to a "beautiful person, who was kind, artistic and intelligent".
Ms Gavan (59), from Glasnevin in Dublin, who was suffering from Alzheimer's, went missing from a nursing home on August 19, 2007, and was never seen again.
However, last Wednesday, children playing football in Tolka Valley Park in Finglas discovered a skeleton.
The children were looking for their lost football underneath an electricity pylon when they came upon the remains which they discovered in a dip in the ground.
The remains were identified as Ms Gavan and returned to her family for funeral and burial yesterday.
