Family of Jill Meagher tell of their ‘overwhelming grief and loss’
THE family of murdered Jill Meagher have told of their overwhelming grief and loss as they prepare for her funeral tomorrow.
In a statement released by the Victoria Police in Australia, they thanked the public for its support but asked for space to grieve during the “highly emotional time”.
“We cannot begin to convey the overwhelming feelings of grief, sadness and sorrow at the loss of our beloved Jill, who was taken from us on the 22nd of September.
“We love and miss her deeply. “We would like to sincerely thank the public for their support, condolences and concern,” they said.
The body of Jill, from Drogheda in Co Louth, was found buried in a shallow grave last weekend after going missing on a night out in Melbourne.
Adrian Ernest Bayley (41), from the Coburg suburb of the city, has been charged with her murder.
Jill’s funeral will take place in Melbourne tomorrow morning and is a private family affair, but a large memorial Mass will take place in Drogheda tomorrow night at 7pm.
Her remains will be taken to Perth to where her parents George and Edith McKeon emigrated 15 years ago.
