THREE-bedroom homes are going under the hammer for a mere €30,000 in one part of the country. The auction involves an unfinished housing estate at Knock-Carrick, beside the tiny village of Annyalla in Co Monaghan.
Four-bedroom dwellings at the same sprawling estate are also being offered for sale by north-east selling agents, Gunne Auctioneers, at the knock-down price of €39,000. Semi-detached houses on the estate were originally priced between €235,000 and €240,000.
A spokesman for the firm said tomorrow's "clearance launch" would begin at 12 noon and all prospective buyers for the "cheapest houses in the country" would be required to put down a €5,000 deposit "to ensure they have a chance of owning the new dwelling".
