'Eyeball' mural fails to melt all hearts

A MASSIVE mural of a man enjoying an eyeball in an ice-cream, spray painted by one of the world's leading street artists, has sparked controversy over its location close to a major tourist attraction.

"I think it's fantastic," said one German tourist who was sight-seeing outside the entrance to King John's Castle on Nicholas Street in Limerick's old quarter.

A French tourist asked: "What does it mean?" Some within the local business community were left confused and annoyed at the giant artwork, created by Australian artist 'Smug'.

"Whoever let this guy paint this next to the Castle should have their head examined. It's ugly. I don't like it.

"The council are trying to attract tourists to this part of the city and then this goes up.

"It's ridiculous," said a local businessman.
