Extensive damage to Dundalk apartment complex as 60 homes evacuated in blaze

RESIDENTS of 60 apartments in Dundalk, Co Louth had to be evacuated last night when a fire broke out.









Extensive damage was caused to the Long Walk Apartments in Carroll Village at 10.45pm, before spreading to adjoining homes.







Firefighters rescued one man and he was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be serious.







It is believed that the fire started in the kitchen on one of the units.



An adjoining apartment complex was also damaged before the blaze was brought under control by three Dundalk Fire crews.
