Ex-TD called to court over €1,000 debt

A former TD has been summonsed to appear before the District Court in relation to a non-payment of a debt to a local community newspaper.

Former Fianna Fail Cork North-Central TD Noel O'Flynn owes €1,000 to the 'Glanmire Community News'.

Solicitor Michael O'Dowd, for the publication, made a request to Judge Tim Lucey at Cork District Court that they be allowed to manually post a summons for attendance of a debtor to Mr O'Flynn.

Mr O'Dowd said that efforts to deliver a registered letter to Mr O'Flynn had failed.

Judge Lucey granted the application to serve the order by ordinary mail.

Failure to appear can result in arrest and imprisonment of up to three months.
