One of the country's busiest motorways is closed this morning following an early morning collision.

AA Roadwatch report the northbound lanes on the M7 Limerick to Dublin road to be closed between Junction 22 Borris-in-Ossory and Junction 23 Moneygall.

Emergency services have been at the scene dealing with the collision since shortly after 6am.

Traffic is being diverted and requested to re-join the main route at Roscrea.

Meanwhile, a collision on the M50 southbound on the Westlink Bridge - which occurred around 7am - has been cleared.

The right lane was temporarily blocked but the route is now free to travel for commuters.

Elsewhere, motorists are advised to be wary of possible black ice on the roads this morning.

On the DART line, there are currently no services through Howth Junction and northern commuter services are terminating at this stop.

Dublin Bus are honouring valid rail tickets for passengers who wish to travel in this direction.

Ongoing efforts are being made to rectify the issue and southbound DART services are currently operating - but subject to 20 minutes delays.
