Sligo: Recount underway following seventh count

A recount is underway in Sligo after just one vote separated two candidates following the seventh count in the Ballymote/Tubbercurry electoral area.

The request for a recount came from Independent candidate Joe Queenan  who had 1280 votes at this stge compared to 1281 for Fine Gael's Blair Feeney.

Two Independents had been elected in this area - Margaret Gormley who headed the poll and Michael Clarke who was elected on the fifth count.
