Mayo Electoral area: Sinn Fein set to double representation
SINN Fein look set to be the big winners in Mayo and are on way to doubling their representation in the county.
Rose Conway-Walsh topped the poll in West Mayo and joins party colleague Gerry Murray who was one of the first elected in Claremorris.
While recounts are to take place in Castlebar and Ballina the party is certain of a seat in Castlebar and is polling strongly in Ballina.
Independents are also faring well across the country with Fine Gael the big loser in Castlebar, the Taoiseach’s hometown, where the party is on course to lose two of it’s four seats.
