'We're baaaaaack' - former Fianna Fáil minister of state Conor Lenihan causes a stir with election comments
One of the major talking points of the General Election so far has been the resurgence of Fianna Fail as a major force in Irish politics.
The party is expected to double their number of seats in The Dail and are tipped to secure more than 40 seats
While, the Government parties are suffering huge losses, former Fianna Fáil minister of state Conor Lenihan - son of the late Brian Lenihan - was eager to twist the knife.
"Remember that ad at the beginning of their campaign, 'Don't let Fianna fail back to haunt you', well, we're baaaack", he says
"I nearly crashed the car, the one golden rule of politics is that you don't mention the opposition, but they had us in all their ads".
Video footage of Lenihan's comments on the RTE Radio One Twitter account has caused consternation online, with many commentators lamenting the short memories of the Irish electorate.
Lenihan made the comments on RTE Radio's Sean O'Rourke show.
