LIVE: Second Dáil vote for Taoiseach takes place - as Adams confirms he won't be putting himself forward Newsdesk Newsdesk

A second Dáil vote for the position of Taoiseach is taking place this afternoon.

The first vote took place in early March, but acting Taoiseach Enda Kenny failed to get re-elected to the position.

The vote for the former Taoiseach stood at: For 57, Against 94, Abstain 5.

Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin's votes stood at: For 43, Against 108, 5 Abstain.

Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams' votes stood at: For 24, Against 116, while the vote for Richard Boyd Barrett as Taoiseach stood at: For 9, Against 111.

Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams confirmed earlier today that he will not be putting himself forward for Taoiseach in the second vote.

There were five abstentions in the Enda Kenny vote last month - these were TDs Michael Harty, Noel Grealish, Denis Naughten, Michael Collins and Mattie McGrath.

Mattie McGrath and the four other independent TDs said had abstained on each vote for Taoiseach in an indication they are willing to hold further coalition talks.

The vote begins on the live feed above at 2.30pm
