Independent TD Maureen O’Sullivan to delcare her intentions to run for Ceann Comhairle
INDEPENDENT TD Maureen O’Sullivan will today delcare her intentions to run for the position of Ceann Comhairle ahead of Thursday’s vote.
Ms O’Sullivan is in a strong position to be elected as long as she can secure transfers from other candidates.
Fianna Fáil has opted to run party whip Séan Ó Fearghaíl, while Sinn Féin is to field its health spokesperson Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin.
Fine Gael may run a number of candidates, including Wicklow/East Carlow TD Andrew Doyle and Kildare North deputy Bernard Durkan.
