Healy-Rae 'didn't know about tender' for roadworks
Independent candidate Danny Healy-Rae dismissed accusations that he tendered for a job that he later supported a campaign against.
The Kerry councillor said he had no idea that a tender had been made on behalf of Healy-Rae Plant Hire Ltd to carry out controversial works on the Muckross Road in Killarney.
Independent councillor Brendan Cronin said Daniel Healy-Rae was named on the tender document, and accused the Healy-Raes of failing to declare business interests.
Danny Healy-Rae has consistently denied the accusations.
Kerry County Council confirmed that 'Daniel Healy-Rae' appeared on its online tendering process - this was the name on the council's database for Healy-Rae Plant Hire Ltd.
It has updated its system to refer to 'Healy-Rae Plant Hire Ltd' instead.
Mr Healy-Rae's son Johnny told the Irish Independent a consultancy firm tendered on behalf of Healy-Rae Plant Hire Ltd in June last year.
The tendering process fell apart when it emerged the job had been priced incorrectly.
No tender was made on behalf of Healy-Rae Plant Hire Ltd when it was readvertised.
