Elderly woman dies in single-car accident

AN ELDERLY woman has died following a single-car accident this afternoon.

The woman was fatally injured when the car she was driving hit a fence at Two Mile Borris in Tipperary at approximately 2pm.

A female passenger in the car was injured but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The body of the dead woman has been removed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.

“This section of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place,” a garda spokesman said.   

“Garda wish to appeal for witnesses to this collision to contact Thurles Garda Station on 0504 25100, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.”
