Elderly female pedestrian (90) dies following road collision

A 90-year-old woman has died following a fatal road traffic collision in Spunkane, Co Kerry.

The female pedestrian was hit by a car at approximately 8.40pm yesterday evening on a small by-road just off the N70, the main Cahirciveen to Waterville road.

The woman was seriously injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was removed to the morgue at Tralee General Hospital. The female driver of the car, aged 22, was uninjured.

The road was closed for a Forensic Collision Examination but has since been re-opened.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact Cahirciveen Garda Station on 066 9473600, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
