Elderly Cork woman sexually assaulted walking home from bingo reporters

A WOMAN in her 60s was sexually assaulted in Charleville, Co Cork last night.

The woman was attacked from behind while she walked home from bingo at around 10.15pm.

Her attacker is described as being in his mid 20s, between 5'6'' and 5'8'' in height, wearing a grey hoodie and dark pants, clean shaven with an Irish accent.

She was dragged into the driveway of a house in the Turrets area where she was sexually assaulted. She also suffered head injuries.

The woman managed to flag down a passing car and was taken to Charleville Garda Station. From there she was transferred to the sexual assault unit in South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital.

Gardai have cordoned off the scene and are carrying out a technical examination.
