Edward wins with 'no limits' attitude

A teenager born with just one hand has stunned professionals by winning a golf tournament at his local club.

Edward O'Reilly (14) has been getting golf lessons for the past six years, and all his hard work paid off this week when he won a junior tournament at Dunfanaghy Golf Club in Co Donegal.

"I was delighted to win," said Edward, from Creeslough. "It's only a wee tournament but sure it was grand. I just get on with my life. I don't let my disability get in the way of anything."

Edward even turns out for his local GAA club St Michael's U14 team, the home club of Donegal legend Colm McFadden.

His golf coach Seamus McMonagle said Edward just doesn't know when to give up. Proud mum Rose also said Edward is like any other boy his age.

"He was born with just one hand but he has never let it bother him and he loves golf and gaelic football. He would spend a lot of the summer months on the golf course," said Rose.
