Former Fine Gael general secretary appointed to role of director general of the Irish Universities Association
A former Fine Gael general secretary, Jim Miley has been appointed to the newly created role of director general of the Irish Universities Association (IUA).
Mr Miley, who has wide- ranging experience in the business and political worlds, is taking over the role against the backdrop of the ongoing campaign by third-level institutions for a sustainable funding model for higher education. One option under consideration is a the controversial income-contingent student loan system.
Mr Miley will take over the position in January, replacing the current chief executive, Neds Costello, whose term of office comes an end in December.
