Leaving Certificate German: 'There was very little scope for rote-learned material'
There was very little scope for rote learned material in the Leaving Certificate German Higher Level paper, according to Orla Ni Shuilleabhain, a teacher at The Institute of Education.
She described it as “challenging” and said both comprehensions would have put students under pressure to complete within the allocated time.
She said that overall the Written Section was tough and testing in all areas and would have been difficult for weaker students.
The themes in the letter question “were topical and challenging and the questions required well thought out answers.”
Ms Ni Shuilleabhain described the aural as “tough and testing in places but overall manageable.”
