Helpline calms anxious callers
It was another very busy day on the Exam 2017 Helpline yesterday with queries about applying for a recheck among the main talking points for the second day in a row.
There were hundreds of calls to the helpline. which is organised by the National Parents Council post primary (NPCpp), typically from mothers of Leaving Cert candidates. Another main concern was whether students would have enough points for their CAO choice - something that will not be known until Monday - and there were also a lot of questions about CAO courses.
The helpline is sponsored by the Irish Independent, the Department of Education and eir, and staffed by members of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors and a representative of the grants agency, Susi. It opens again today, from 10am to 1pm, and will reopen on Monday at 7am - one hour after CAO offers are published - for another three days.
