My Story: I joined loads of societies and ended up first year rep, says Hannah
Hannah Dobson knew that Dublin city university (DCU) was the place for her after an Open Day visit.
She felt it offered the "practical approach" she favoured and so her top three CAO choices were DCU, even though none of her friends were going there.
When her first preference, Communications, came up, she was "absolutely delighted".
From the start Hannah, a former pupil at Loreto College, St Stephen's Green, said she "absolutely loved DCU. I joined loads of societies and ended up in the position of first year rep."
During first year, Hannah (21) got involved in the DCU Enactus social enterprise programme and it was through that that she got a taste for business. And she liked it.
During her time on the communications course, Hannah did some work in an advertising agency and "after two weeks, I decided I loved marketing".
So, at the end of first year Hannah, from Portobello, Dublin, decided that she would like to switch to the MInT degree programme.
MInT is a collaboration between the DCU Business School, the Faculties of Engineering & Computing, Science & Health, and Humanities & Social Sciences, which allows students to combine creative marketing skills with an understanding of technology and design.
Now entering third year, and in a very exciting move for Hannah has a 12-month work placement with the Volkswagen group, at its M50 offices, working on the Audi account, before returning to DCU for her final year.
"I am delighted every day because I am going to work".
