Early-bird Picnic tickets to go on sale
ELECTRIC Picnic is first out of the blocks to confirm a summer date for a festival next year.
It is clearly aiming for the Christmas stocking filler market as early-bird tickets go on sale on Monday, December 2. The Electric Picnic 2014 will take place on the last weekend in August from Friday, August 29 to Sunday, August 31 at Stradbally Hall in Co Laois.

The body is currently finalising the transfer of properties before it can finalise its business. "They do have a property portfolio, which they are about to sell," a government spokesman said.
TRALEE CHOSEN TO TAKE PART IN ENTENTE FLORALE
TRALEE has been chosen to represent Ireland at the Entente Florale competition next year.
The Entente Florale, which is a partnership between the local authority and the community and similar to the Tidy Towns, is one of the most prestigious competitions of its kind and towns from 11 other countries will be vying for the top prize next year.
MAN HELD OVER ATTEMPTED PETROL STATION RAID
GARDAI arrested a man in connection with an attempted raid on a service station.
The incident occurred around 7pm last night at a filling station in Mallow, Co Cork. Staff became suspicious of a man who entered the premises and alerted gardai.
CARCASS FIND SPARKS ILLEGAL BUTCHERING FEARS
FARM organisations have called for an investigation of possible illegal butchering of animals after a number of carcasses were discovered near the border.
The gardai confirmed that they were investigating the discovery of bones near Ravensdale, Co Louth, yesterday. The Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers Association called for extra resources to investigate this and similar incidents.
