Eamon Dunphy's media firm profits top €500,000
PROFITS at the media firm owned by outspoken pundit Eamon Dunphy last year topped €500,000, new figures show.
According to accounts just filed by Dunphy's Mac Consultants Ltd, they show that the firm's accumulated profits totalled €500,233 at the end of December last.
Accounts for Dunphy, who has worked as a pundit over four decades, showed his firm increased its accumulated profits by €52,462 from €447,771 to €500,233 last year.
Figures released last November by RTE for 2009 show that the panellist's firm received the ninth highest amount at €225,485 that year.
The 2009 pay related to his football punditry along with his Sunday morning radio show, 'Conversations with Eamon Dunphy' that ended its run on RTE in 2009.
The pundit's pay compares to the £1m (€1.28m) Gary Lineker and Alan Hansen are each believed to take home per annum from the BBC.
Along with his RTE deal, Dunphy (66) also has a lucrative contract with the 'Irish Daily Star' to write separate weekly columns on soccer and politics.
The filings for last year would include Dunphy's earnings from 'Newstalk' and these won't re-occur in the 2012 accounts after he resigned from the radio station last October.
