SEVERAL units form the Dublin Fire Brigade are battling fires at a derelict housing estate in Shankill in south Dublin.

Four motors, an environmental officer and a turntable ladder unit are at the scene of the blazes on the Dublin Road where up to three houses are believed to be on fire.

Gardaí are also at the scene and the local authority has been notified to increase water pressure in the area, a spokesperson for the fire brigade said.

He added that because the houses are detached units, it is possible the units were intentionally set alight.

Dublin Fire Brigade are also battling a blaze between Rush and Lusk in north county Dublin. It is understood a derelict building is on fire.

Three motors and a water tanker are at the scene, near the train station.
