A Dublin Bus was evacuated on Dorset Street today after a small engine fire.

The incident occurred on the 122 bus at around 12.30pm as it made its way to Drimnagh.

Sarah Magliocco was a passenger on the bus at the time.

“I was on the upper deck of the 122 bus and as it was driving down Dorset Street," she told

"There was a weird bang which I couldn't hear exactly because I had my headphones in, and then I looked out the window and saw huge plumes of smoke emitting from the back of the bus, before the driver shouted up the stairs for everyone to get off the bus immediately.

"I was late for a meeting so I didn't wait around for an explanation, just walked into town and caught another bus."

Dublin Bus issued this statement today:

“All customers were successfully evacuated from the bus and a team from our maintenance department was dispatched to the scene and the bus was returned to Phibsboro depot.”
