Driver (24) killed after car hits traffic island


A MAN has been killed after the car he was driving hit a traffic island in the early hours of this morning.

The incident occured at Knockdoe, Co Galway at approximately 2.30am.


The man was the only occupant of the car.


His body has been removed to Galway University Hospital where a post mortem examination will take place later today.


A garda spokesman said the road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Diversions are in place.
