IT was a blue rather than a red carpet last night when the Walt Disney Company opened their first Disney Store in the Republic.

While not everyone may have been happy to have the queen in Dublin, Mickey Mouse was mobbed by well wishers keen to have their picture taken with him inside the new shop at 60 Grafton Street.

For many of the VIPs attending it was a chance to relive the "wonderful world of Disney"

The new store features a new concept design, which includes eight trees featuring Disney animation that changes throughout the day, and free daily events for children.
