Designers steal show at VIP event
EVERY designer in town was getting an outing on the red carpet.
From high street to haute couture, the TV stars, models, high-profile solicitors and even politicians had all dusted off the glad rags for the Peter Mark VIP Style Awards at the Shelbourne Hotel.
"It is certainly different," said Fine Gael TD Mary Mitchell O'Connor, who is more accustomed to being surrounded by a sea of staid suits in the Dail "I'm delighted to be flying the flag for the older Irish woman, the mother," she quipped, in her burnt orange Kate Cooper dress, accompanied by Vienna Shoes from Blackrock and a Helen McAlinden coat.
TV star Grainne Seoige had turned to Kerry native Don O'Neill, who dressed US television star Oprah for the Oscars, for her black, sparking off-shoulder number; while presenter Maura Derrane had turned to a number from Fearne Cotton designed for the Littlewoods catalogue.
Rosanna Davison had turned to Irish designer Dawn Fitzgerald, while Aoife Cogan, who is engaged to rugby star Gordan D'Arcy was wearing a Grecian-style Alice Temperley dress, as was stylist Lisa Fitzpatrick.
Cecelia Ahern and her husband David Keoghan were among the nominees for the Most Stylish Couple award, while Westlife singer Nicky Byrne was up for the Most Stylish Man Award.
Other guests spotted included TV presenter Brian Ormond and his wife, model Pippa O'Connor, solicitor Gerald Kean and Today FM DJ Ray Foley.
