GARDAI are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a homeless man on a park bench.
It is understood that the man - who was in his early 60s - had only recently moved to Nenagh in Tipperary, where he was spotted on a bench on Kenyon Street in the town yesterday evening.
His death is not being treated as suspicious, but the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission is looking into it as the man had contact with gardai earlier in the day when a squad car gave him a lift to Nenagh.
A GSOC referral is standard procedure where a gardai has had contact with someone before their death.
It is understood that the man had not presented himself to homeless services in Tipperary.
A post-mortem examination is being carried out on the man’s body.
