Data watchdog got 'spammed' while in court on similar case
An advertising ploy went badly wrong for a midland company that sent a text message to a data protection officer as he gave evidence in court over a similar matter.
The officer received the unsolicited marketing text while giving evidence against a number of companies for using similar marketing tactics earlier this week.
Assistant Data Protection Officer Tony Delaney spent two hours giving evidence against a number of companies in Dublin District Court on Monday.
As he left the court he switched on his phone only to discover an unsolicited marketing message from a midland company.
Mr Delaney said his office will be pursuing the matter.
"I will write the complaint, but I wont be involved in it," he said.
