DART services have been disrupted this evening - with more suspensions to come - between two south Dublin stations due to a truck hitting a level crossing.

DART services between Dun Laoghaire and Pearse Street stations were suspended at around 5pm today.

The incident happened at a level crossing at Sandymount.

A spokesperson for Iarnród Eireann said: "There's damage to the [level crossing] barrier and the pillar for the barrier, so we have to replace the barrier. We have to make sure it's protected to cross."

Trains resumed through Sandymount after 6pm at reduced speed. However services will again halt after rush hour this evening for approximately 30 minutes to allow for further repairs.

Iarnrod Eireann says Dublin Bus are currently honouring rail tickets.

Update: The line between Lansdowne Road and Dun Laoghaire has re-opened.
