Daniel O'Donnell's village plagued by wave of crime
RESIDENTS in Daniel O'Donnell's home village have reactivated a community alert scheme after a series of violent incidents, including a petrol bomb attack on a house, writes Greg Harkin.
The once-sleepy Co Donegal village of Kincasslagh -- a tourist hotspot for O'Donnell fans from all over the world -- is outraged over recent anti-social incidents.
More than 200 people packed the village hall to hear residents' leader Michelle Doherty call on politicians to halt garda cutbacks "so our communities can feel safe to live in rural Ireland again".
A spate of criminal acts in the area have included a number of burglaries.
Gardai also addressed the meeting, with crime prevention officer Sgt Paul Wallace warning residents: "The day is gone, unfortunately, where houses can be left without being alarmed."
