Cyclist injured as bike trapped in Luas tracks

A FEMALE cyclist was recovering from leg injuries last night after she fell from her bicycle which got stuck in a Luas tram track in the middle of the morning rush hour.

The accident, shortly before 9am yesterday, led to delays of about 40 minutes on the Luas red line between Tallaght and Connolly Station as emergency services treated the 33-year-old injured woman.

The accident took place near the tram line on Capel Street, when one of her bicycle wheels got stuck in the tram track, causing her to lose her balance and fall off her bike.

Members of the Dublin Fire Brigade and ambulance services attended the scene. The woman was taken to the Mater Hospital for further treatment.
