Crowds lap up spectacular beach races
The Ballyheigue beach races took place amid a spectacular wintry backdrop in Co Kerry yesterday.
The event offers a day of high-octane horse racing over the festive period, and it has become an annual tradition that holds a special place in the hearts of many families locally, and from much farther afield.
Onlookers were willing to brace the chilly weather yesterday to see the spectacle of the horses galloping across the famous strand.
The event has been taking place for years, and continues to go from strength to strength.
The day's racing action was watched over by race judge Brendan Carroll.
