Two men arrested by armed gardaí investigating dissident Republicans

Armed gardaí investigating the activities of dissident Republicans have arrested two men during operations in Meath and Dublin today.

A man in his 30s was arrested when Gardaí searched a house in Co Meath.

In a statement gardaí said a second man, also in his 30s, was arrested during a search of a house in West Dublin.

The men are detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 in a west Dublin Garda Station and can be held for up to three days.

The operation was led by members of the Special Detective Unit (SDU) and Emergency Response Unit (ERU).

Gardaí say the investigation is ongoing.
