Over €19,000 worth of smuggled alcohol, tobacco and cigarettes seized by Revenue

Revenue officers seized more than €19,000 worth of smuggled alcohol, tobacco and cigarettes over the last three days.

Officers at Dublin Airport and Port seized more than 29,000 cigarettes, 4 kilos of tobacco and 155 litres of alcohol in recent days.

The products represent a loss of over €15,000 to the exchequer.

Revenue staff at Dublin Airport confiscated more than 28,000 contraband cigarettes from passengers who were arriving from Dubai and Moldova.

A haul of the contraband alcohol, tobacco and 1600 cigarettes was discovered in a van arriving at Dublin Port this morning from France.

Two Polish men were questioned in connection with the seizure.
