Manhunt underway for raiders who threatened staff with hammer in petrol station

Gardaí are seeking witnesses to a terrifying petrol station raid where female staff were threatened with a hammer.

The raid took place at a  shop in Clane Co. Kildare, on Sunday at about 8.30pm.

In a statement gardaí said two men entered the forecourt of the petrol station in a stolen yellow Skoda Citigo car.

Both men entered the shop. One man stood at the door keeping a look out armed with what appeared to be a knife while a second man went to the counter, threatened two female staff with a hammer and left with a quantity of cash.

No one was injured during the incident.

Gardaí said the car used in the incident a 141 D reg Skoda Citigo was stolen on December 1, in Balbriggan, Co Dublin.

Anyone with any information about the incident or who saw this car between the 1st and 11th of December 2016 is asked to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884300.
