Man arrested in connection with the homicide of 'wonderful mother' Amy (23)

A man has been arrested in connection with the homicide of Amy McCarthy.

Young mum Amy's body was discovered at a vacant premises on Shears Street in Cork on April 30 last.

Attempts were made to revive Amy (23) but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man (26) was arrested this morning in the midlands and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Bridewell Garda Station.

Amy's sister Hailey has paid tribute to he at her funeral.

She said: "Amy had a heart of gold. After she had baby Adam she was such a wonderful mother."

"She will always be our loving sister and friend."
