Man arrested for gunpoint burglary on Justice Minister's road

A man has been arrested for an aggravated burglary that occurred on the same street as Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald’s home.

Two men - dressed as postal workers entered the house in Georgian Village - just after 11 o'clock on Friday morning.

The victims – a male aged in his 60s and a female aged in her 50s – were threatened by the two men as they demanded to know the location of any valuables.

They produced a firearm and the occupants of the house were threatened.

One of the occupants managed to get out of the house during the incident.

The two men then left the scene in possession of a safe and items of jewellery.

The incident occurred in Castleknock and the address targeted is on the same road as that of the Justice  Minister Frances Fitzgerald

A man was detained earlier today and is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Blanchardstown Garda Station
