Man arrested after robbing shop while wearing Guy Fawkes mask

A man has been arrested in connection with an investigation into a robbery of a shop by a masked person who was holding what appeared to be a gun.

The incident happened at a shop on the Kilrush Road in Ennis, Co Clare on October 18.

A man threatened staff and demanded cash before he fled on foot down Clon Road into an area known as Rocky Road, no one was injured during the incident.

He was described as being approximately 6ft tall, thin build wearing a dark coloured ccc tractsuit, tracksuit leggings and dark top and he was wearing a Guy Fawkes types mask.

A man was arrested this afternoon in Co Clare and was held at Shannon Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

He has since been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
