Loaded sawn-off shotgun recovered by gardai in Dublin housing estate

GARDAI targeting feuding gangs in west Dublin have recovered a loaded sawn-off shotgun following searches in the area.

Searches were conducted across areas of a housing estate in Blanchardstown along with one home.

The semi-automatic weapon was found yesterday in the estate hidden in the undergrowth of wasteland.

 It has been sent for ballistic testing by gardai.

"As part of an ongoing policing operation targeting criminality in the Blanchardstown area of Dublin, a residential premises at Sheephill Park, Blanchardstown was searched yesterday," a spokesman said.

"As part of this operation wasteland at Sheephill Estate was also searched, during the course of this search a loaded semi-automatic sawn off shotgun was recovered concealed in undergrowth."

No arrests have been made by gardai with investigations still ongoing.
