Local residents have expressed their frustration after a statue of iconic singer Luke Kelly in Dublin's Docklands was vandalised for the seventh time.
It was daubed with blue paint in the latest incident, leading to calls for the raising of the plinth upon which the head sits.
The North Wall Community Association said that "following the last six times it happened, we have consistently said Luke should not be moved but protected".
"This is now the seventh time, and while very much frustrating it's not unexpected," it said in a statement.
"We are very proud of the fact that Luke was born and raised in the North Wall and ask that these terrible attacks stop."
Gardaí said they were "investigating an incident of criminal damage to a statue on Guild Street".
They said that the incident was reported to them yesterday evening. No arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing.
