Fresh appeal for information on fifth anniversary of murder of father-of-two James Cahillane (58)
A fresh Garda appeal has been launched to mark the fifth anniversary of the murder of James Cahillane.
The remains of the father-of-two (58) were discovered at his home in Ardaw, Beaufort in Killarney, Co Kerry on April 19 2012.
The previous evening he had spent a few hours watching a football match at a pub in Kilorglin before he got a taxi home.
At around 2.05am his neighbours spotted a blaze at his house and fire services were called to the scene.
A post-mortem showed that Mr Cahilane had been assaulted and suffered several head injuries before the fire.
A murder investigation was launched and despite great assistance by the public, the crime is still unsolved.
Gardai are launching a fresh appeal for information to mark the fifth anniversary of his death and Mr Cahilane's murder will be featured on Crime Call next Monday, April 24.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Killarney Garda Station on 064 6671160 or the Garda Confidential line 1800 666 111.
